How to Make Delicious Beverage from Brewed Water Kefir Grains                    

 

If you are interested in making a unique beverage, you can do so through the use of water kefir grains. It is easy to make a delicious yet very nutritious beverage through these healthy grains. The best part about this ingredient is that you can buy it for a very affordable price and you can make delicious smoothies from them that you and even your kids will truly enjoy. Here is how you make a delicious beverage from brewed water kefir grains:


Step 1: Dissolve ½ cup of organic sugar into water. Honey should not be used in replacement of sugar as this contains antimicrobial elements that will damage the water kefir grains or delay its proliferation.



Step 2: Add 1/3 cup of kefir grains, 3 tbsp. of raisins, ½ lemon, and a thin slice of ginger to the sugar water mixture in a mason jar.


Step 3: Brew the water kefir grain mixture in the mason jar for about 24 to 72 hours at room temperature. The time that you will allow the mixture to brew will depend on how strong you want it to be and the temperature in the place where you are brewing it. The warmer the temperature is, the faster the mixture will brew.


Step 4: Strain the grains, the raisins, the lemon, and the ginger from the water kefir mixture then put the liquid into smaller jars or containers.


Step 5: Allow the liquid to sit out in room temperature for another 24 to 48 hours. This will allow it to continue fermenting and produce its natural carbonation.


Step 6: You can now use the liquid from the brewed water kefir grains to make various beverages such as smoothies. You can also just serve the liquid with a couple of ice cubes to enjoy a cold drink.
